AREAS OF RESEARCHStudying platelet function and interactions with vascular compartments under flow conditions, including testing the response to anti-platelet drugs.
Studying the role of platelets and platelet derived microparticles in angiogenesis and tumor biology.PUBLICATIONSDr. Varon published over than 100 original publications in leading journals as well as many chapters in textbooks in the field of hematology and vascular biology.
Dr. Varon is frequently invited as a guest speaker for international conferences in the field of thrombosis & hemostasis and vascular biology.
PATENTSDr. Varon holds several patents of the Cone and Plate(let) Analyzer –the CPA – a method and a system for testing platelet function under flow conditions.
Gili Kenet, MD, received her medical degree from Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Dr. Kenet is a Pediatric Hematologyst, professor of hematology at Sackler Medical School, Tel Aviv University.
She is Director of the Israel National Hemophilia Center in Tel Hashomer, Israel.
Dr. Kenet’s research projects have been focused on neonatal hemostasis, childhood stroke and pediatric thrombophilia as well as clinical research of new therapy modes applied for hemophilia patients, especially patients with inhibitors. She is an active member of the World Federation of Hemophilia, Israeli society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology.
Dr Kenet Chairs the Israeli Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and has chaired the Pediatric and Perinatal Hemostasis Scientific Subcommittee of ISTH.
Prof Kenet organized many educational symposia (both national and international) and published over 150 manuscripts, chapters in books and one Hebrew poetry book. She is married, has 3 kids and lives in Yehud, Israel.
Pier Mannuccio Mannucci is currently Scientific Director of the Research Hospital Cà Granda Foundation in Milan. He was formerly Professor of Internal Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties at the Maggiore University Hospital of Milan. He was also director of the Angelo Bianchi Bonomi Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center, a clinical unit and associated research center characterized by long-lasting expertise in the field of hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders. He was given awards and prizes by professional and learned organizations, such as the International Prize by the French Hemophilia Association, the Murray Thelin Award by the USA National Hemophilia Foundation, the Distinguished Career Award and the Robert Grant Medal by the International Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the Ham-Wasserman Lecture Award by the American Society of Hematology, and the Jean Bernard Award of the European Hematology Association. From 1996-1997 he was President of the International Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and from 1998 to 2006 Editor-in-Chief of the official journal of the Society, the Journal Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is now Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Internal Medicine. He ranks among the 214 highly cited scientists in the Clinical Medicine category (Institute for Scientific Information).
